about

Let go of intrusive thoughts by imagining a calm flowing stream, symbolizing the active flow of thoughts and ideas.

lyrics

Hello! This is Iris Fae, and this is going to be a quick guided meditation to help you let go of intrusive thoughts and calm your mind. We all have times where our mind is racing and thoughts continue to come and go so rapidly and intensely that we are unable to focus our attention on our tasks. This is perfectly natural and is something that happens to all of us. However, we could have intrusive thoughts that are of negative nature, which may cause another set of problems. But, we can calm down these thoughts and relax to allow a more productive flow of ideas.

Before we begin, be sure to find a comfortable place where you can fully relax and not be disturbed. And know that at any point, if something arises or you feel uncomfortable, that you can wake up. Please do not listen to this while driving or during moments where you need your focus elsewhere.

Once you have found a spot where you can fully relax and let yourself go, begin to analyze the thoughts going through your mind. You may have thoughts rushing and racing around, perhaps of the day, stresses in life, or even future plans. Whatever they are, take a moment to let the ideas flow.

Now take a deep breath in, and exhale. Focus your attention on my voice as it calms and relaxes you. Your mind may wander during this meditation, and when it does, gently bring it back to my voice and your meditative experience. Relaxation cannot be forced, so bring your attention back calmly and realize that it's natural for your mind to drift.

Visualize yourself by a stream of water. The water is flowing ever so gently. Just listening to the sound of it flowing and admiring the beauty of it calms you. This stream represents the flow of ideas in your mind. Here in this place by the steam, these thoughts flow freely. Whenever an intrusive thought comes into your awareness, bring your attention to it for just a moment, and imagine it going into a leaf that then gently flows down the stream. And another thought comes, and another leaf gently flowing down the steam. Another thought, another leaf. As these leaves flow, so do your ideas as you let go of them.

Continue to do this while focusing on your breath. Breathing in as you put your thought into the leaf, and breathing out as the leaf gently travels down the stream. Synchronizing your breath with letting go of the intrusive thoughts as they flow down the stream. Do this with each and every thought that comes to mind, allowing them to flow without effort or resistance, and then letting them go and relax deeper as your mind becomes calmer and quieter. Relaxing the mind, relaxing the thoughts. Breathing and letting go. Feeling a wonderful peaceful sensation and clarity in your mind as you continue to gently let go of any and all thoughts that invade your mind.

Continue doing this for as long as you like and when you are ready to go about your day, simply open your eyes, continuing to focus on your breath as your mind remains calm and clear. Know that at any point if you feel your mind racing or you are having unwanted thoughts that you can simply close your eyes, focus on your breath, and let go of the thoughts that invade your mind by bringing your attention to them and then letting them out as they flow down the stream.

Thank you for listening. My name is Iris Fae and I hope you have a wonderful, stress free, rest of your day!
